This is because LC is a lazy old hag and still wants to keep the blog active. Therefore I will be stalking down music and music review things and free downloads and also continue to post reviews with LE.
This was your precious follow doesn’t go to a waste. :D
1,470 playsSeekae - Gnor
So the other day I posted a new mix, which you should download if you haven’t yet. Batting second was this brand new track “Gnor” from one of my favorite Australian groups, Seekae. I’ve been consistently bumping their beats since they dropped their 2008 debut, The Sound of Trees Falling On People. These guys are true masters of the craft and apparently their live show is mind-blowing. Hopefully they will tour the U.S. one day. Listen to their 2010 single “Blood Bank,” also featured on the new album called +Dome coming out later this month.

It’s an outlet. It’s a release. Everybody listens to music in some way, shape or form. You sing it at church, you hear it in movies, you blast it while driving down I-95 across the East coast. All in all, music is everywhere. And like I said, it’s an outlet. You sing it at church. But the problem is, there is a lot of misconception that music is an outlet for Satanism.
The problem lies within hardcore Christians. A lot of these people are very into calling people out on Satanism and boycotting everything there is about that person. Because it’s evil and Anti-Christlike. And of course, everything that has something mildly shocking, or has blood, or an upside cross, or an upside down pentagram, or anything with lots of black leather is SATANIC. Now, this misconception is incredibly wrong.
Let’s take for example Lady GaGa. Conservative Christians and Catholics alike have condemned her for her blasphemous acts, music videos and performances. The problem with it is…
Just like most other artists that use such things, it’s shock value. Pure shock value. It gives them fame. By condemning then, you are giving them exactly what they want. Controversy. Controversy sparks interest. Brilliant business plan, no? Well, it is. Everyone buys into the, “LOOK AT THE ALEJANDRO VIDEO, IT’S SO BLASPHEMOUS!” bullshit that none of the condemners realize that you are giving into exactly what the business wants. More money, more attention. Thank you for that, as you are fueling the wonderful world of the music industry.
Nothing is better than using blasphemous imagery to get your music jumpstarted. Hell, there’s entire genres dedicated to the use of Satanic imagery. Black metal, shock rock, etc. It’s all about the shock value. The craziness of it gets people pumped. It’s a genre all in it’s own. And yet people are still on misconceptions that these people are truly Satanic.
A lot of music is an act. For these people, irreligion is one of them.
The one thing people need to stop doing is analyze every little part of music to prove that something is Satanic. If I put enough effort into it, I can make the most Christian bands(Red, Flyleaf, all those Christian rock bands) look like they support Satan. It’s just interpretation. Interpretation that people take too far. These people put more interpretation into a music video than your English teacher puts into a page of a novel.(Just a metaphor, I strongly support the analyzing of literature.)
All in all, it’s just interpretation. Bad ones, at that.
Now, let’s go listen to some Shining, Demoncy, Bathory and forget about all this hype on Satanism in music.

I realize neither L.C. or myself have done the review promised of The King of Limbs. We’ve been really busy and getting a copy to listen to is currently being a challenge. I promise this blog should be back up and running in it’s perfect condition by next Monday. We might only do ONE REVIEW A WEEK instead due to school and since it nearing the end of the year we have many, many things to do. AP Exams, state assessments, etc. It’s all very stressful stuff.
Now, to make up for this, I will let you guys get to know me better. Here is a list of my Top 5 favorite bands.
1. Explosions in the Sky
Explosions in the Sky is an instrumental band, usually classified under the “post-rock” genre. For those of you who don’t know what post-rock is, Explosions in the Sky embodies everything about it. It’s using rock instruments as if they’re a symphonic instrument. Explosions in the Sky isn’t very complex. Their complexity comes from their masterful layering, but every song is broken up into easy segments. It’s very minimalist, but it’s also very beautiful. Their songs give off nothing but emotion. Their discography could make an entire soundtrack to your life. They are absolutely beautiful. Notable songs include “Your Hand in Mine”, “So Long, Lonesome” and “Catastrophe and the Cure”.

2. Death Cab for Cutie
Now, I’m sure all you hipsters must be like “the hell?” Well, Death Cab for Cutie is a very good band! Sure, they’re more popular than most indie bands, but Ben Gibbard is brilliant. His lyrics seem to always go in coherent sentences, and they are beautiful. Mix this with their emotionally-driven music, and you make up one band that can set an emotion to a song and give it all it’s got. These guys have made beautiful music all the way from their album You Can Play These Songs with Chords to Narrow Stairs. My favorite work of theirs is Transatlanticism.

3. Between the Buried and Me
Between the Buried and Me is great. They’re progressive death metal, for those of you who don’t know. I’m a true fan of their album Colors, and I’m not very familiar with their older works. But their more recent albums are so good they are instantly one of my all time favorites. This band is notable to me due to their drummer, Blake Richardson. He is phenomenal and my inspiration for drumming. His beats are incredible, his fills are on top and he helps BTBAM sound perfect.

4. Gatsby’s American Dream
Gatsby’s American Dream is an iconic indie rock band from Seattle, Wikipedia says. To me, they’re everything you love about pop rock with hard rock riffs. They expand far beyond simple hihat/snare beats and simple chord progressions. These guys go all out. In-depth drum beats that are sure to make your head bob and rockin’ guitar rhythms that’ll make you wish you could jam out to these guys on stage. Notable songs include “A Mind of Metal and Wheels”, “You All Everybody” and “The White Mountains”.

5. Owl City
Most people know of Owl City for their 2009 hit “Fireflies”. Adam Young is pretty much the embodiment of the late 2000’s One Hit Wonder. Owl City is electropop, and electropop is one of my favorite genres. Young’s work is pretty diverse, ranging from the upbeat fun of “Umbrella Beach” to the calm “The Saltwater Room”. Young is good at what he does, and that’s making diverse electropop. Despite the fact they are often compared to The Postal Service, I still find the two very different. Notable tracks include “Hot Air Balloon”, “The Technicolor Phase”, “Fireflies” and “If My Heart Was A House.”

Well, that’s all folks! Be sure to tune in next Monday for hopefully a surprise review! Don’t forget to suggest us stuff to review. Anything from albums to singles.
